It doesn’t matter if you are a complete beginner or seasoned practitioner in Yoga or Pilates, there is always space to grow and allow transformation to blossom. Sometimes we just need a bit of gentle discipline and the right environment to be inspired to get back on track with our health and vitality. Suleyman’s Garden provides a place of serenity to unwind and clear the clutter that clouds our minds and insight.

What to expect

The schedule is designed to inspire and help you to build your own practice once you return home.
I will be teaching daily Pilates sessions alongside Yoga and meditation.
A strong core and good postural alignment will compliment your Yoga practice while specific Pilates exercises will identify and correct any weaknesses and imbalances that can lead to injury and pain if left unchecked.  We will use Pilates props including balls and bands for added strength and resistance. However I would like to stress the emphasis of the retreat is on a mindful practice rather than bootcamp fitness.
For those who want to do more Sadhana (spiritual practice), there will be guided meditation in the morning and at sunset.

A typical day –

  • 7.00 am:   Sun Salutations, breathing exercises and guided meditation
  • 7.50 am:   Herbal teas and fruit
  • 8.10 am:    Pilates/ workshop style energising class
  • 9.45 am:   Brunch
  • 11.00 am: Hiking, swimming, excursion to Oludeniz or Fethiye, boat trip,          Turkish Hamman or free time to do nothing!
  • 5.00 pm:  Yoga class
  • 7.00 pm:  Supper

Food 

The important part….. expect colourful, delicious and where possible – homegrown food!

All meals will be vegetarian but if this is something new to you – fear not – you will dine very well!  Eating food that is mostly plant-based gives the entire digestive system a break – you will be amazed at how light and energised you can feel after a week of cutting out complex animal protein. Some milk, cheese and eggs will be served but vegan options are available with prior notice.  There will be no alcohol and coffee served during the week. Avoiding these stimulants really speeds up the benefits of the retreat, promotes better sleep and helps create a peaceful and calm group energy.

Suleyman’s Garden is a small traditional farm set amongst terraced fruit and vegetable fields about 70kms from Dalaman.  The port of Fethiye is 30kms away with Ölüdeniz, a place famous for its stunning blue lagoon, mountains and favourable conditions for paragliding, being the nearest town at 15kms.

After brunch we will hike parts of the Lycian Way, an ancient footpath that begins in Ölüdeniz and travels southeast to Antalya. The views are breath-taking but a degree of fitness is recommended as some parts of the hike can be quite strenuous.  But don’t worry, there are water-taxis if you fancy meeting up with the group and not doing a long walk or for swifter return journeys in time for the second Yoga session of the day!

There will also be an opportunity to explore the coastline by boat with a day trip to the port town of Fethiye and if time, finishing with a traditional Turkish Hamman and chance to shop in the bazaar afterwards.

Accommodation is in Anatolian style houses, with twin or double bedded rooms all nestled in the gardens with views towards the sea.  All rooms have showers en-suite with space outside to relax.

 

Digital Detox: There is some wifi available in parts of the resort but switching off from the outside world is greatly encouraged. We are not just trying to reduce the noise that comes from talking on phones, being on the internet and listening to music but to promote the right environment and energy for the mind to quieten.

Cost:  Full board including 3 wellness sessions and 2 meals a day is £850 based on 2 people sharing. There are very limited single rooms available for an extra charge….so find a friend to share the retreat with or I can match you up with someone.
A non-refundable deposit of £250 is payable on booking to secure your place.

Flights and transfers are not included.

Travel details: 

The closest airport to Suleyman’s Garden is Dalaman, approximately 90 minutes from the resort.  There are many direct flights from the UK with EasyJet, Turkish Airlines, Sun Express, Jet2.com, TUI and British Airways.

I will post more details on the best flights to coordinate with the airport transfer to keep your costs down.
